Private authentic Lan Ha bay 1 day tour from Hanoi

Our positive experience already started at the planning and booking stage of the tour. David, the manager of Hanoi Eco Tours, spared no effort to accommodate our requests. He was very helpful, flexible and kept what he promised. He was also a very friendly and cheerful guide. We cruised on a small wooden boat in areas where there were no other tourists, just the two of us together with David and the skipper. Also, the food prepared and served onboard by the skipper was lovely and plentiful. We also appreciated David‘s ideology of running his business with small local partners only. We had a wonderful day and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Lan Ha bay. We highly recommend to book with him. Good value for money. Many thanks again to David.

My sister & I booked the private Lan Ha Bay day trip tour with David. We were looking for a small group tour that included all the highlights without an overnight stay. This was worth every penny. Lan Ha Bay, the quieter less touristy sister of Ha Long Bay is stunning, and there weren’t many other boats/tourists (partially due to it being shoulder season in November). The first beach we kayaked to, we had all to ourselves for a while until a few others joined us (no large tour groups). We swam, jumped off the boat, kayaked through lagoons, and enjoyed a delicious fresh seafood meal prepped by the captain of our boat, slash chef?! We also drove through the floating fishing village of Cai Beo and visited a high elevation viewpoint on Cat Ba island, called Cannon Fort. Water was provided, as well as other drinks onboard. David even bought us banh mi sandwiches in Cat Ba town when he learned we hadn’t had breakfast yet. He lent us phone lanyards and a dry bag after forgetting to pack ours. He is very knowledgeable about the area and took a ton of photos for us, as well. In our opinions it was the perfect mix of activity to lounge time on the sun deck. Book this!

We found David very last minute, but he was able to put together a whole day trip for us that was off the beaten track. We wanted to see the amazing sights of north Vietnam without being super touristy, and he definitely delivered! We were picked up in Hanoi in a private car and driven to the ferry to cross to Cat Ba Island. We took a morning hike around Cannon Fort, which had cool ruins and views. Then we took a boat out to a floating village where we transferred to a larger boat that took us out around Lan Ha Bay, where we could kayak around and enjoy nature. He accompanied us to Lan Ha bay, experiences, and learned so much history. It was beautiful and quite private, sometimes not a single other tourist in sight!! It was a truly one of a kind experience, and so worth it! His prices are a little more expensive, but again, he creates private, one of a kind experiences, and communicated quickly through WhatsApp to make sure you’re getting exactly what you want. He was flexible, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Would highly recommend his services, both as a planner and a guide, and would love to go with him again when we come back.

David organised a bespoke Lan Ha Bay boat tour for my wife and myself. We had limited time to see the best of the stunning & far less-touristy area rather than be crammed into a mass tour experience like the Ha Long Bay cruises. We weren’t interested in kayaking nor cycling so David superbly organised a fantastic 5-hr private boat tour in a lovely traditional cabined & spacious wooden boat through some of the most exhilarating scenery I have ever experienced!!! Once we got to our boat, for the first 2 hours we didn’t see any other tourist boats - it was total serenity with some local fishing boats going about their business. The trip included passing a floating fishing village + visiting Viet Hai Village by electric cart which was a lovely experience (we could ask to stop the cart as often as we wanted to get out and take photos of the surrounding countryside) as well as a short hike around Canon Fort for the terrific views at the end. We are vegetarian and David was keen to ensure that the food served on the boat was exactly what we wanted. Actually, we were stunned by the amount of delicious food prepared by the boat captain. David arranges absolutely everything if you require it; from any transfers (we travelled directly from Hanoi Noi Ba airport with 2 taxis and a ferry included) to onward destinations. You know what we really liked about David? His English is excellent and he’s so completely direct in all his communication - in a very loving and caring way! He’s super-clear and is very careful to completely set expectations in advance. In fact it’s more a case of under-promising and over-delivering…in a *really* good way. AAAA+++ experience.
