Itinerary of Non Touristy Ninh Binh day trip from Hanoi

7.30am : Our guide and driver greet and meet you at your hotel in Hanoi; embark on 2 hours journey to Ninh Binh—a stopover on the way to a toilet break and coffee.  Arrive at the Van Long wetland area, visit a three-generation local family, enjoy a cup of Vietnamese green tea, and interact with them to learn about the day-to-day lives of the family as well as the fascinating Vietnamese culture. 

Taking a 1-hour bike ride (Optional) or a leisurely walk through village roads, riding along the local dykes with stunning sceneries of towering limestone cliffs, rivers and rice fields. We might adequately see some locals along the way before going to a local temple in a hidden spot where tourists can’t find it alone. The temple has a long-lasting history since the 11th century, with the same period when King Ly Cong Uan relocated the ancient capital from Ninh Binh to Hanoi. 

Enjoy a drum show by a local guardian of the temple.

After the show, we head back the Van Long area for lunch with local food : Goat meat, rice crackers and more. Then take a  boat tour to explore Van Long wetland for over one and  a half hour to explore caves. It is way quieter than Tam Coc and Trang An. If you are lucky enough, you can see a monkey. 

Right after the boat trip, we will visit a local family workshop to learn how to do hand embroidery on a  short class. Our craftsman will show you steps by steps to try your hand at embroidery. 

3.30pm we drive back Hanoi, arrive at your hotel around 5.30pm

• Local sampan boat tour at Van Long nature reserve about one and a half hour. Each boat can carry  boat can be maximum 2 adults, maybe 1 small kid. If your group size is 3 or 4 adults, we need to take 2 boats
